Hints & Tips:

6. Flowers

All the flowers should be ordered from your chosen florist at least 2 to 3 months in advance.

The time of year of your wedding can influence the choice of flowers available, though these days most popular types can be obtained all year round.

Consider the dress colour and style, and the Bride’s colouring when choosing flowers for the bouquet.

The shape and size of the bouquet can help to accentuate the bride’s figure; a long trailing waterfall bouquet can have a slimming effect, but would look unbalanced with a short wedding dress. Your florist will advise you on this.

Buttonholes are usually worn by the Groom, Best Man, Ushers, and the fathers of the Bride and Groom. Sometimes close relatives and friends may also be presented with a buttonhole.

Corsages are larger than buttonholes, and are usually presented to the mothers of the Bride and Groom. These should be chosen to match their outfits.

Flower arrangements at the church and reception venue can be done by yourself, or a family member who may like to volunteer, but your florist will also organise this for you, if you wish.

Confirm the arrangements
with your florist a week before the wedding.
